Knockbracken Day Centre

Knockbracken Day Centre Unit provides daily stimulation, support and care for people living with dementia.

Life at Knockbracken Day Centre

Clients attend the day centre on set days a week, allowing them to form relationships with other clients and staff members. Trained staff members facilitate different activities on a daily basis, from games and quizzes to reminiscence exercises and group outings. Activities are tailored to clients’ abilities and client choice is facilitated and encouraged where possible. Suitable meals for every client are available. Also buses to transport clients to and from the centre are available.

Belfast Trust staff members are able to provide personal care for clients where necessary, according to each client’s assessed need. Furthermore, staff members are trained to communicate effectively with people with dementia and aim to provide high quality, person-centred care, allowing clients to feel at home during their time in the centre.

Knockbracken Day Centre also provides support for carers, providing regular meetings, information and a place to feel heard.
