Childbirth and loss midwife

The death of a baby at any time during pregnancy can cause great sadness for a woman and her family.

We would like to extend our sympathy to you and your partner at this difficult time.

The childbirth and loss midwife provides extra support to women and families who have experienced a loss at any stage while being cared for by our maternity and community services.

Barbara will respond by telephone to arrange a suitable time for your appointment.

Alternatively, you can ask your community midwife, health visitor or GP to refer you to the service.

Sands Northern Ireland

Sands Northern Ireland is part of Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. Sands operates throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research and working closely with many different organisations to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

SOFT

Set up by parents for parents of Trisomy children, SOFT, the Support Organisation for Trisomy, in Ireland, is a voluntary group dedicated to providing support for families of children born with Patau’s Syndrome (Trisomy 13), Edwards’ Syndrome (Trisomy 18) and related chromosomal disorders. Support is provided during prenatal diagnosis, during the child’s life and after the child’s passing.
