    Belfast Health and Social Care Trust is inviting service users and carers to join our new Being Open Involvement Group. This is your chance to make a real difference by helping us embed openness, fairness, and learning across our organisation. Working alongside staff, you’ll influence how we communicate, learn from experiences, and build trust in the care we provide. If you’re passionate about improving services and ensuring every voice is heard, we’d love you to get involved!

    Involvement opportunity 2025/26 in older peoples’ services in Belfast Trust

    Join us to shape and implement the Belfast Trust Carers Strategy in older people’s services. Working with staff from across the Trust, bring your experience of being a carer and receiving carer services, to inform how we support carers throughout our older peoples’ services.

    Why get involved?
    Your voice matters, come and help shape services, influence decisions, and ensure carers’ needs are at the heart of planning.

    What we’re looking for:

    • Lived experience as an unpaid carer, for those over the age of 65, in the last6-12 months
    • Commitment to improving carer support
    • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Enhancing care into Care Homes – including carers

    Enhancing care into Care Homes – including carers

    Belfast Trust is currently seeking carers to join a new Enhancing care into Care Homes Group. This group will work with the Trust to ensure that the voice of the carers is integrated into the Enhancing care into Care Homes Group, to improve residents care and support a new approach of anticipatory care planning.

    The Enhancing care into Care Homes programme of work will aim to:
    1. improve residents’ sense of wellbeing
    2. improve anticipatory planning for long term conditions (LTC) including frailty
    3. provide early interventions to prevent crisis resulting in unnecessary attendances at unscheduled care.

    Overview

    Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and the Department of Health have recently met to agree their proposal as part of the Department of Health ‘Overarching Winter Preparedness plan 2025/26’.
    Focusing on:

    • Older people living with frailty
    • Supporting care
    • Interaction with Health and Social Care

    The Enhancing care into Care Homes Group will oversee the development of the model to deliver a GP led multidisciplinary team (MDT) service. It is hoped this service will proactively enhance care for residents in care homes through the completion of a comprehensive assessment, develop anticipatory care plans by the wider team working together.

    We are seeking carers who have lived experience of care homes in Belfast Trust area in the last 6 -12 months. The group will meet initially every 2 weeks online for 1 hour. There will be an induction and training available, to support your understanding and getting involved.

    We are offering SCOPE training on the 14th Jan online. This training is designed to support you to understand more about getting involved in the Trust. Click here to register: Belfast Trust – SCOPE Training Registration
