During our Go-Live period, and in the first few weeks after, our staff will still be adjusting to the new system. You, as a patient, service user or visitor, may notice a lot more activity across our sites.
There will be a lot of signage around the Trust to provide you with information, and our staff may be able to answer any questions you have.
Below are some common questions you may have with answers to explain what is happening.
-
Why have I not been seen? I have been waiting here a long time.
We apologise you may have to wait longer than we would like. We are introducing a new computer system and staff are getting used to it. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
-
Why are so many people on mobile phones / on computers?
One of the biggest advantages of our new system is that staff caring for you at all parts of your health care journey will be able to access your information at the touch of a button.
But that means more staff need to use devices, including mobile phones, to access, maintain and update your digital record.
It will also mean that you won’t have to keep repeating your story to lots of different health professionals, as they will have it all there in front of them.
-
Who are all these people in coloured T-shirts?
For a few weeks in June, staff and volunteers from other Trusts are supporting our teams in Belfast Trust implement the new system.
This is to make sure that it goes as smoothly as possible and so that our patients and service users aren’t too inconvenienced. They are wearing colourful t-shirts to make them easily identifiable.
-
Is it only Belfast Trust which has this system?
All the Trusts in Northern Ireland are moving on to the new system over the next year.
The system is already in place in South Eastern Trust already, and now it is Belfast Trust’s turn to bring it in.
-
Have staff not already been trained on the system? Why is it taking so long to update my record?
Staff have all been trained on the new system.
We’re sorry if it is taking a bit longer than normal. Our staff are just getting used to the new system and they want to make sure all the information we have on your record is accurate and up-to-date.
Thank you for your patience with our staff.

What is My Care? How can I access or review my own records?
My Care is a patient portal that allows people to look up parts of their own records.
You can access My Care on your computer, tablet or mobile phone using a web browser. First you need to register for an NI Direct account and then download an app called ‘My Chart’ from the App Store (Apple/iOS devices) or Google Play Store (Android devices).
