Emergency Departments

Adult Emergency Departments are located at the following hospitals:

  • Royal Victoria Hospital
  • Mater Hospital

If you are unwell and considering travelling to an emergency department, you should Phone First for triage. Please call 028 9615 9444 to be assessed by phone before being advised of the appropriate next steps. If you are experiencing a life threatening injury please call 999 immediately.

Our Children’s Emergency Department is located at:

  • Children’s Hospital (Royal Hospitals site)

If your child is unwell and you are considering bringing them to the Children’s Hospital please Phone First on 028 9615 9444. A healthcare professional will give advice over the phone and guide you on the most appropriate care. You can also consult out Symptom Checker for advice. If your child’s condition is life threatening, call 999 immediately.

GP out of hours service

If you need GP assistance outside of surgery hours, you can call the GP out of hours service

If you are concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child, call the children’s social work service:

If you have an urgent concern about the mental health of yourself or someone you know, please contact:
