Hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing takes place at the Midwife-Led Unit and is open to women who plan to give birth in the unit.

The programme is provided by a small team of specially trained midwives who offer classes that usually take place in the evening. Partners are encouraged to attend.

The midwives prepare mothers physically, mentally and emotionally for birthing and ensure a more comfortable and positive birthing experience.

To find out more or book a place, please contact the Midwife-Led Unit on: 028 9504 1555 or 028 9504 1556.

Process of hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing is as much a philosophy as it is a technique. It is a stress-free method of birthing based on the belief that all babies should come into the world in an atmosphere of gentility, calm and joy.

The programme involves:

  • deep relaxation
  • self-hypnosis
  • special breathing techniques
  • visualisation
  • affirmations
  • education

Through hypnobirthing, the birthing process may be easier, with a potential reduction in pain during labour.
