Sexual intercourse during treatment

Couples undergoing fertility treatment may have a small chance of achieving a pregnancy themselves. The treatment course begins with a powerful hormone and it is important to avoid becoming pregnant once this treatment has started.

From accepting your treatment offer you should use some simple non–hormonal method of contraception from the start of your next period until 14 days after embryo transfer.

Your treatment starts once you start medication, therefore if you become pregnant naturally or cancel your treatment while taking fertility drugs you will not be eligible for further NHS treatment.

YOU MUST NOT HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX ONCE YOU HAVE ACCEPTED YOUR TREATMENT OFFER. This will lead to you being discharged from the service.
