Corporate Plan
This plan is much more than a document – it is a statement of who we are, what we stand for, where we want to go together and how we will know we have achieved this over the next five years.
Our Corporate Plan sets out a clear vision for the future. It provides a roadmap that will guide our decisions, shape our priorities, and ensure that our efforts are focused on the areas where we can deliver the greatest value and the best outcomes for the people we serve. The Trust is indebted to all those who helped develop and shape the plan.
The plan is based around our priorities, framed as the 5 ‘P’s – Patients and Service Users, who are at the heart of everything we do; People – the staff to whom we are grateful for their dedication, compassionate care and excellence; Population and Partners – working together with all our partners to improve population health and tackle inequalities; Performance – so that we deliver efficient, effective and equitable patient care and lastly Potential – fostering innovation and initiative with a view to continuous improvement.
To ensure that the plan is fully accessible to everyone, I am delighted to thank our friends in TILII Translates (Tell It Like It Is), a social enterprise of adults with learning disabilities, for the great work they have done on turning our plan into an easyread.
As we launch this vision for the next 5 years, I encourage everyone to embrace the opportunities ahead. Let us be confident in our vision, ambitious in our goals, and committed in our actions. We look forward to sharing our progress against our actions and goals over the coming years.

Winter Surge Plan 2026/2027
Winter is one of the busiest and most challenging periods for health and social care services. Demand increases due to seasonal illnesses such as respiratory infections, flu and norovirus, alongside a rise in urgent care needs resulting from slips, trips and falls. These pressures are experienced across hospitals, community services and social care, placing additional demands on capacity, patient flow and the workforce.
These challenges are further compounded by the significant financial pressures facing the health and social care system. No additional funding has been made available to support winter pressures in 2026/27 and, as a result, the Trust must deliver this plan within existing resources. This makes it more important than ever that we work collaboratively across services and with our partners to maximise capacity, improve patient flow and deliver the best possible care for patients and service users.
Every year, we develop a Winter Plan in line with key themes from SPPG/PHA guidance, that sets out how we will manage additional pressures and challenges. At the heart of this plan are our patients and service users. We remain committed to delivering safe, person-centred, high-quality and compassionate care, while ensuring services are resilient and responsive throughout the winter period.
This plan builds on learning from previous winters and our experience of managing increased seasonal demand. We have engaged with our primary care colleagues, patients, service users, carers, staff and trade unions to help shape the plan and ensure it is comprehensive, practical and accessible.
Our Winter Plan 2026/27 outlines how we will prepare for and respond to these challenges while continuing to deliver the priorities set out in our Corporate Plan:
