We have set four key objectives to achieve our vision for volunteering.
An action plan has also been developed and will be taken forward by the Volunteer Services Team to deliver on this strategy and achieve these objectives.
Objective One: Recognising the Value and Promoting the Benefit
We will achieve this by:
- Recognising our Volunteers in the Belfast Trust through planned events
- Developing an improved database of volunteers to help us monitor diversity, trends and improvements
- Promoting the value of volunteering across the Trust
- Maintain and increase opportunities for our volunteers across the Trust
- Identifying and generating more creative roles for volunteers
Objective Two: Enhancing Accessibility and Diversity
We will achieve this by:
- Improving the clarity of volunteer role descriptions for both volunteers and Departments who are utilising volunteer support
- Identifying underrepresented groups and ensure opportunities are promoted widely
- Consider the development of Employer Supported volunteering in Belfast Trust
- Strengthening relationships with existing Community and Voluntary Sector
- Organisations by collaboration in relevant forums, events and meetings
- Developing a deeper understanding of the complex emerging needs
- Building a culture of trusting and supportive relationships
Objective Three: Improving the Experience
We will achieve this by:
- Ensuring that an appropriate and effective recruitment process is maintained
- Effectively supporting all our volunteers with designated Volunteer Mentors
- Providing an induction and training programme to include welcome, orientation and overview of the role description, key staff and useful contacts
- Conduct regular reviews with volunteers to gather feedback and identify opportunities for improvement
Objective Four: Delivering the Strategy
We will achieve this by:
- Ensuring effective monitoring and review of the implementation of the strategy
- Developing action plans annually
- Ensuring effective partnership in the implementation of the strategy
- Developing a communication plan to support the implementation of the strategy
- Embedding the strategy into other strategies and policies
Financial Implications of this Strategy
