What the service does
The acute pain service provides safe and effective management of acute pain using techniques and therapies such as:
- epidural
- patient controlled analgesia (PCA)
- peripheral nerve infusion of local anaesthetic
How to access the service
You can be referred to the acute pain service by:
- medical or nursing staff
- allied health professionals
Opening hours
The acute pain service is on four sites:
Royal Victoria Hospital Every day, 8am to 4pm |
Belfast City Hospital Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm |
Mater Hospital Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm |
Musgrave Park Hospital Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm |
Consultants also go around the wards each week in the Royal Victoria Hospital and Belfast City Hospital.
