What the service does

We provide 24 hour support and advice for all Children’s Hospital inpatients who are suffering acute pain.

Every child with an advanced pain relief plan receives a daily review. Any child that needs specialist support will be reviewed on request.

The support we provide includes:

  • advice on how to manage oral painkillers
  • local anaesthetic techniques

We consider every child’s individual needs and look at how their current condition affects their wellbeing. This allows us to put together a personal plan for each child.

We also provide support for some painful procedures such as lumbar puncture.

Who provides the service
