What the service does
The Community Addiction Team provides a wide range of services to adults who are dependent on alcohol and/or drugs.
The team aims to:
- carry out a full assessment of all patients who use the service
- provide psychological interventions and education
- reduce patients’ addiction to alcohol and/or drugs
- provide medication that helps patients give up alcohol and/or drugs
- carry out testing for blood-borne viruses, for example hepatitis or HIV
- train staff on the use of Naloxone to manage overdoses
- help patients access specialist services
- help patients access opiate detox where appropriate
Who provides the service
The Community Addiction Team is made up of:
- nurses
- social workers
- counsellors
- occupational therapists
- consultant psychiatrists
How to access the service
Patients can be referred to the Community Addiction Team by their GP. The referral management office is in Woodstock Lodge.
