What the service does

The Community Addiction Team provides a wide range of services to adults who are dependent on alcohol and/or drugs.

The team aims to:

  • carry out a full assessment of all patients who use the service
  • provide psychological interventions and education
  • reduce patients’ addiction to alcohol and/or drugs
  • provide medication that helps patients give up alcohol and/or drugs
  • carry out testing for blood-borne viruses, for example hepatitis or HIV
  • train staff on the use of Naloxone to manage overdoses
  • help patients access specialist services
  • help patients access opiate detox where appropriate

Who provides the service

The Community Addiction Team is made up of:

  • nurses
  • social workers
  • counsellors
  • occupational therapists
  • consultant psychiatrists

How to access the service

Patients can be referred to the Community Addiction Team by their GP. The referral management office is in Woodstock Lodge.
