What the service does
The Community Forensic Mental Health Team helps adults aged 18 and over with severe or long-term mental illness who may have committed a crime. We ensure these people have access to appropriate assessment and treatment. This work may involve looking at the complex relationship between the person’s mental illness and their criminal behaviour.
We work closely with:
- other community mental health teams
- probation services
- criminal justice agencies
Who provides the service
The Community Forensic Mental Health Team is made up of:
- consultant psychiatrists
- mental health nurses
- social workers
- support worker
- psychologist
How to access the service
We accept referrals from:
- psychiatrists who work in mental health services
- psychologists who work in probation services
Most referrals to the Community Forensic Mental Health Team are from the Shannon Clinic, a medium secure unit.
Opening hours
Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm (excluding public holidays).
