What the service does

Community mental health teams provide support to help people cope with their mental illness. They do this through:

  • assessment
  • education
  • advice
  • therapeutic support

Community mental health teams can also offer access to a range of other services such as accommodation and community support.

Who provides the service

Community mental health teams are usually made up of:

  • community psychiatric nurses
  • psychiatrists
  • social workers
  • support workers

How to access the service

Adults aged 18 to 65 years

Referrals can be made by GPs or other healthcare professionals.

Adults aged over 65 years

You can refer yourself to the service by ringing: (028) 9504 0346.

Referrals can also be made by:

  • GPs
  • consultants
  • other healthcare professionals
Young people aged under 18 years
