What the service does

Day care services support vulnerable older people to stay in their community and live as full a life as possible. We work with older people who have:

  • physical disabilities
  • sensory impairment
  • mental ill health
  • early stage dementia

We help these vulnerable older people improve their:

  • social skills
  • life skills
  • lifestyle
  • daily activities

We also help older people who are going through rehabilitation.

Day care services are provided at a number of day centres across Belfast. Day centres offer:

  • support for service users and carers
  • meaningful activities
  • personal care

Some of our day centres also offer:

  • carers’ groups
  • access to therapists

How to access the service

We accept referrals from:

  • social workers
  • community psychiatric nurses
  • care managers
  • integrated care teams

When we receive a referral, we will arrange for the older person to visit the day centre. The older person is usually accompanied by a family member, carer and/or the person who made the referral. If necessary, we will provide transport to and from the day centre.
