The General Surgical Department provides a range of elective and emergency treatments for patients with benign and malignant conditions of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. These conditions include:
The treatments include the following specialties:
- colorectal surgery
- hepatobiliary surgery
- oesophago-gastric surgery
How to access the service
We accept referrals from:
- GPs
- hospital clinicians
- other healthcare professionals
Location of service
General surgery is currently provided on:
- Level 2 North, South and East in Belfast City Hospital
- Wards 6A, 6B and 6C in the Royal Victoria Hospital
- Wards D and E in the Mater Hospital
