Neurology Unit

The Neurology Unit provides assessment, treatment and review for people with long-term neurological conditions from all over Northern Ireland. There are 3 main areas of care provided on the ward. These are:
12 beds providing respite for carers and monitoring for patients. Both planned respite and emergency respite (when beds are available can be arranged.

Three beds for rehabilitation/assessment patients. Rehab patients undergo an intensive assessment and rehabilitation programme over a 2-3 week period. Rehab patients may go home at the weekend if agreed with the consultant first. Sometimes patients are admitted for one week assessment only.

Eight permanent beds for neuropalliative patients that have complex physical needs. These patients are closely monitored and regularly reviewed by all of the hospital team.
