What the service does
Primary mental health treatment teams help adults aged between 18 and 65 who have mental illnesses that seriously affect their ability to function independently.
We promote and support mental wellbeing through brief interventions such as:
- anxiety management
- psychoeducation – providing information to patients in mental health services
- behavioural activation – encouraging people with depression to do things they enjoy
- medication concordance / monitoring / education – consultation between the healthcare professional and the patient
- cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) interventions
- mood monitoring
- symptom stabilisation
- mental health promotion
How to access the service
Most referrals to primary mental health treatment teams come from GPs. As part of the referral, we require detailed information about the mental illness involved.
