Shannon Clinic is a Medium Secure Unit, providing in-patient services for people with mental illness who require intensive psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation in a structured, secure and therapeutic environment. It’s a regional service linking mental health services throughout Northern Ireland.
Shannon Clinic is a purpose built 34-bedded unit, with a range of facilities including a gym, sports hall, workshop, music room, IT suite and café area. The multi disciplinary team works flexibly across all areas to deliver holistic treatment programmes and promote recovery. We work in partnership with users, carers and other agencies to reduce stigma and improve the quality of life for adults with a mental illness.
The unit has three wards:
- Ward One – Admission / Assessment and Intensive Care.
- Ward Two – Continuing Care Services
- Ward Three – Rehabilitation
How to access the Service
Shannon Clinic, Regional Secure Unit provides a specialist in-patient service and referrals will be considered primarily from:
- Special Hospitals
- Courts and Prisons
- Psychiatric Intensive Care Units
- Community Forensic Mental Health Teams
Its provides a service for people from throughout Northern Ireland, some, but not all of whom, may have come though the judicial system.
