What the service does
The urology service assesses, diagnoses and treats diseases of the:
- kidney
- bladder
- prostate
- reproductive organs
We provide general urology services for people living in Belfast and a number of specialist regional services for people from across Northern Ireland.
The urology service can be divided into smaller areas that manage all urological conditions including:
- bladder cancer
- kidney cancer
- prostate cancer
- other non–cancerous urological conditions such as kidney stones
Who provides the service
The urology team is made up of:
- urology surgeons
- anaesthetists
- nurses
- imaging staff
- allied health professionals
- administration staff
How to access the service
There are two ways to access the urology service:
- referral by an Emergency Department
- referral by a GP or another clinician
Location of service
Urology services are provided at:
- Belfast City Hospital
- Royal Victoria Hospital
- Mater Hospital
