What the service does

Our rheumatology service provides diagnosis and management of conditions of the joints, muscles, bones and tendons.

The adult rheumatology service provides inpatient, outpatient and day case services over three hospital sites.

Unfortunately, a lot of patients are facing extensive waiting times for a first appointment with our rheumatology service.

The additional need to prioritise care for the most ill patients during the Covid-19 pandemic has also had a significant impact on our resources.

We want to help you manage your symptoms while you are waiting to be seen. We have been working closely with Versus Arthritis to ensure you are signposted to resources in the community that can help you manage your symptoms.

We have produced the series of short information videos below to introduce the multi-disciplinary team and offer some initial self-management advice. Click each section to access the video.

We will also be hosting monthly information events in partnership with Versus Arthritis, which will be virtual in the first instance and then face to face when restrictions ease.

We encourage you to sign up for one of our information events to find out more about the support available to you. You can contact us by email at: RheumAltSupport@belfasttrust.hscni.net or telephone on 028 9615 0060.

Please note these contact details are only for enquires about our information events. We are unable to answer any other enquiries.

If you have a clinical enquiry, you should contact the advice line or your GP for guidance.

We also encourage you to contact Versus Arthritis directly to find out about other self-management support they offer. You can contact the charity by email at: niservicesteam@versusarthritis.org or telephone on 028 9078 2940.
