MMR vaccine
The MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps and rubella (German measles). MMR has three separate vaccines in one injection.
A vaccination campaign aimed at curbing the growing threat of measles has been announced by the Public Health Agency (PHA).
Missed vaccines
For anyone aged 12 months up to and including 25 years old, who hasn’t had one or both doses of MMR, catch-up vaccination is available until 31 March 2024.
Those who have never received any doses of MMR vaccine should book early to allow one month between dose one and dose two before the end of March.
Where to get the MMR vaccine
Children aged 12 months up to and including five years old
Children aged between 12 months and 5 years of age can get the vaccine through their GP practice.
GPs will be running catch-up vaccinations for children aged 12 months up to and including five years old (anyone with a date of birth between 1 April 2018 and 1 December 2022), who have missed their vaccines as part of the routine schedule.
Your GP will contact you if your child is identified as needing one or two doses of the MMR vaccine.
Children aged 6 – 16 years
The School Immunisation Team will be available to vaccinate children aged between 6 and 16 years. Clinics will be held on a Saturdays in March, April and May 2024 within local community settings. A table of the upcoming clinics is below.
Children in Year 11 & 12 will continue to be invited to attend for their School Leaver’s vaccinations within their school setting as per scheduled school vaccination programme. The MMR will be offered to all eligible children if required.

Booking is preferable but walk in appointments will be available between 11am and 12MD on each date and at each venue.

The Vaccination Centre has been temporarily relocated to the Phlebotomy Hub, Duke of Connaught Building in Musgrave Park Hospital. Please note that parking is available at the entrance, follow signage for Phlebotomy Hub.
Please note children under the age of 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For those aged 17 years and over, please bring photographic identification.
