What is Self Directed Support?
Self Directed Support is a change in the way social care services are provided. It offers more choice, control and flexibility to individuals and families.
Self Directed Support allows you and your family to:
- tailor a package of support that suits your lifestyle
- have an informed choice about how your support is provided
- control your personal budget
How do I get Self Directed Support?
Self Directed Support is available to people who have been assessed and need social care support.
If you do not already have social care support, you will need to ask for an assessment from a social worker or key worker.
How can Self Directed Support benefit you?
Self Directed Support allows you to choose:
- what type of support you receive
- where you receive support
- when you receive support
For example, you might want to:
- have your support staff visit you at a time you choose
- employ your own personal assistant
