What the service does

Allied health professions (AHPs) is the collective name given to 10 individual services:

Allied health professionals can help:

  • improve your movement or mobility
  • improve your nutritional status
  • develop your communication skills
  • restore your confidence in everyday living skills

Allied health professionals must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HPC). The HPC is an independent, UK regulatory body responsible for protecting the public by setting and maintaining standards of professional training, performance and conduct of the healthcare professions it regulates.

Allied health professionals work with people of all ages in a range of locations, including:

  • hospitals
  • people’s homes
  • clinics
  • surgeries
  • schools
