Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey has official opened two new Trust facilities – Beechcroft, the new Regional Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit and the Plenum Building, the regional pharmacy manufacturing service.
Beechcroft
Beechcroft will provide a total of 33 inpatient beds and a further five daycase beds for children and adolescents with mental health problems.
Speaking at the official opening the Minister said ‘No one could fail to be impressed by the fantastic new facilities that are being opened here today. Beechcroft will provide a specialist inpatient service for children and young people with mental health problems’.
Plenum Building
He also opened the Plenum Building which is the regional pharmacy manufacturing service for Northern Ireland, undertaking the manufacture and supply of specials that cannot be obtained from the UK pharmaceutical industry.
In 2009/10 the existing service produced 130,234 drug packs for patients attending accident and emergency and outpatients departments across secondary care in Northern Ireland and assembled 385,990 H1N1 vaccines for the population of Northern Ireland.
