Trust Chairman, Pat McCartan, performed the official opening of the Macmillan Drop-in Information Service in the Royal Victoria Hospital. Located on the second floor of the main mall in the hospital the information centre provides support and information to people affected by cancer.
Led by information manager Angela Small the team can also signpost people to other organisations including complimentary therapies. ‘Our aim is to improve the quality of life of people affected by cancer by helping them to access information that’s appropriate for them,’ says Angela. ‘however this is not about a ‘one size fits all’ solution, because each person and indeed family, is affected differently and will need an individual response from us, and we give our visitors the time they need to talk.’
The centre is a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Belfast Trust. A Macmillan Information Centre is also located on the Belfast City Hospital site, beside the Cancer Centre
