Belfast Trust has recalled 1113 urology patients as a precautionary measure following a review of number of patient notes.
The patients who have been asked back will have attended Belfast City Hospital for a bladder camera test / cystoscopy during 2012 and 2013.
Trust Medical Director, Tony Stevens said, ‘We have identified a small number of cases where the standard of care was not what we would have expected and therefore we are offering these patients an appointment with a consultant to have the procedure repeated. I must stress, this is precautionary. I fully accept this may cause patients worry and concern and for that I am very sorry, but my priority is to ensure that we have given our patients the best possible care.’
Anyone contacted by the Trust will be asked to ring a dedicated advice line number. The telephone number is: (028) 9063 0500. Lines will be open from 12 noon until 10pm today, and from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday thereafter or email the advice line at adviceline@belfasttrust.hscni.net
