Belfast Trust participates in Belfast Pride16th July 2020
We are pleased to announce Belfast Trust will be participating in the annual Belfast Pride celebrations this year for the first time.
The 30th Belfast Pride will be celebrated from Friday 24th July until Sunday 2nd August as a virtual event, in line with restrictions on mass gatherings because of the Covid-19 pandemic. We will, however, be holding a number of online events across the Trust to demonstrate our support and join the celebrations for Belfast Pride, taking this opportunity to promote the work of our LGBTQ+ staff and the services we offer patients.
We will also be using Pride to educate ourselves on how we can improve on equality of access to employment and training, provision of support and services and how we work with our colleagues identifying as LGBTQ+. Through direct communication, online surveys and webinars we will identify areas for improvement to ensure our LGBTQ+ colleagues feel safe and valued at work.
To take steps towards this we have adopted the Rainbow Pin, to show that Belfast Trust is an open, non-judgemental and inclusive place for people that identify as LGBTQ+. We are also working to become accredited for the Northern Ireland Diversity and Inclusion Charter Mark through Legal Island, demonstrating that we are taking steps towards a more diverse and inclusive workplace.
We are looking forward to showing our support for our LGBTQ+ colleagues in the coming weeks by celebrating Pride together.
