Belfast Trust Carers Support Service hosted a lunch for a large group of carers on Tuesday 30th August at beautiful Belfast Castle.
This event was to recognise carers and show appreciation and thanks to the unpaid and family carers who are our vital partners in providing care and support to countless individuals throughout our communities.
The event enabled carers to meet face to face after the isolation experienced by many carers due to the impact of Covid and the restrictions which had been in place.
As well as providing a little break from their caring demands, it provided an opportunity for new carers to connect with other carers in a supportive environment.
Carers attending also got the opportunity to speak to the Carers Support Service team and find out about the other supportive opportunities that are open to them.
Two comments captured from feedback highlighted the impact of the event for carers.
“I had a wonderful time – lovely people, venue and food. Lovely supportive conversations with people who understand. Thank you so much.”
“Lovely treat and animated conversation at the table. Good to hear what other activities carers have done. I am encouraged to attend the walking group and bird watching.”
