FOCUS Club win Community Environment Award

14th December 2022

Belfast Trust’s FOCUS Club, a community based club for people with learning disabilities, supported by Suffolk Day centre, has won the West Belfast Partnership Board’s Community Environment Award.

These awards acknowledge those who improve, protect and enhance the physical and natural environment of their communities.

The FOCUS club members collected discarded car hub caps and other items and created beautiful pieces of arts for their community garden.

The club provides activities and social opportunities for adults with a learning disability and takes place in Glen Community Centre, West Belfast.

Fionnuala Totten, FOCUS Club worker, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of our FOCUS club members who really deserve this award. Our members are the heart of our club and they love coming up with new ideas and activities that help their local community. This project was the perfect opportunity for our members to use their creativity and skills to recycle and upcycle and make a piece of art that brightens up the the local environment and for them to have fun”.

Congratulations to the FOCUS club members!
