Midwives from the Royal Jubilee Maternity Service are set to star in new television series.
Belfast Midwives is a new 5 part docuseries on Channel 4 and begins on Tuesday 3rd January at 10pm. It will also be available as a boxset on All 4.
The series is full of warmth, humour and emotion and follows the team of midwives and multidisciplinary team at the award winning Royal Jubilee Maternity Service. Each episode features three very different birth stories – from emergency C-Sections to extraordinary water births – and follows the midwives as they support a diverse group of families during this important life moment.
The series was filmed during summer 2022 and produced by Lion TV, an award winning television production company, for Channel 4.

“Here in Belfast Trust we have an amazing team of highly skilled and caring midwifes and I’m very proud of them all. Filming Belfast Midwives was a great opportunity to celebrate the important role of midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team who are dedicated to delivering great maternity care. It’s a great series which makes me so proud to be a midwife in this team”.
Episode 1 of Belfast Midwives will be broadcast on Tuesday 3rd January at 10pm on Channel 4. All five episodes will also be available to watch as a boxset on All 4.
More than 5,000 babies are delivered in the Royal Jubilee Maternity Service every year. Belfast Trust’s maternity service provides obstetric and midwifery antenatal, intranatal and postnatal care. A new state of the art Maternity Hospital is currently being build beside the existing maternity hospital and will open in 2023.
