9th March 2023
Congratulations to our teams at Belfast City Hospital Complex Site and Musgrave Park Hospital Elective Orthopaedics who have been recognised by Department of Health Permanent Secretary, Peter May, and the Elective Care Management Team for delivering outstanding results.
In January, Musgrave Park Hospital Elective Orthopaedic Team was one of the first recipients of the monthly award. It acknowledged the outstanding efforts of the team in achieving the rebuild of the Elective Orthopaedic Service following the COVID-19 pandemic. The team’s efforts have resulted in an increase in activity from 4 lists per week to 83 lists per week by December 2022. The team have also improved waiting times for carpel tunnel patients.
In making the award, particular note was taken of the positive leadership exhibited and the pragmatic, cohesive teamwork shown in rising to the challenges faced in rebuilding orthopaedic services. All of these efforts have resulted in the impressive outcomes above.
In February, the Belfast City Hospital Complex Site and the anaesthetics, surgery, theatres, critical care and cancer services teams were recognised with the award. It was acknowledged that their collaborative work had lead to improvements in patient pathways and ensuring as many patients are treated as possible.
Thank you to both the teams for all that they do and well done in receiving this important recognition of their hard work.
