14th September 2023
This month we’re partnering with the European Society of Vascular Surgeons and Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke to help you take charge of your vascular health.
Vascular health refers to the health of the blood vessels in the body. The circulatory system is responsible for transporting blood throughout the body, and vascular disease can occur when there is a problem with this system. Cardiovascular disease, which includes heart attacks, strokes and aortic aneurysms, is the most common cause of death worldwide, especially in western countries.
Vascular diseases are a leading cause of death and disability across the world, and coinciding with the 37th Annual European Society of Vascular Surgeons Conference you can get your vascular health checked at the public engagement event at ICC Belfast on Tuesday 26 September.
At the event, members of the public will be able to get blood pressure checks, speak with the Belfast Trust Smoking Cessation Team about support they offer, AAA Screening information, get details on healthy eating, Diabetes UK information and you’ll even get the chance to participate in some armchair aerobics with the physical activity team.
The engagement event will take place outdoors, in a large tent at ICC Belfast from 11am to 6pm followed by a 5km walk or run raising funds for Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke.
If you’re interested in participating in the 5km walk or run, visit the sign up page.
