Belfast Trust is hosting two workshops on the implementation of the planned closure of Muckamore Abbey Hospital draft Equality Impact Assessment.
Belfast Trust encourages as many people as possible to respond and have their voices heard in this public consultation process before the consultation closes on 1st March 2024.
Belfast Trust is responsible for leading on the implementation of the planned closure of Muckamore Abbey Hospital in June 2024, following the decision made by the Department of Health. The draft Equality Impact Assessment provides the context and rationale for resettlement to improve the lives of people with a learning disability, affording them the same rights as everyone else in Northern Ireland.
The scope of the impact of this Equality Impact Assessment is related to potential impact on the following groups of people in terms of equality, good relations and human rights:
- Current Hospital inpatients and their families and carers
- Potential future Belfast Trust patients and their families and carers
- Belfast Trust staff
The Equality Impact Assessment paper outlines what the future service model is to support these individuals to live full and meaningful lives in the community.
