Belfast Trust has today confirmed that it will begin the process of recruiting a new Chief Executive following Dr Jack’s decision to resign from the role.
Dr Jack has had a long career in health care spanning 37 years. In 2004 Dr Jack joined the consultant medical staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital as a Geriatrician and in 2008 she was appointed as Deputy Medical Director. Dr Jack later became Medical Director in August 2014 and Deputy Chief Executive in July 2017, before taking up post as Chief Executive in January 2020.
Dr Jack has led the organisation through a challenging landscape for health and social care, including a global pandemic. She embodies health service values and has worked diligently to ensure our patients and service users have received the best possible care. Dr Jack is passionate about staff engagement and spent time listening to staff to better understand their experiences and provide support. Belfast Trust would wish to pay tribute to Dr Jack for her unwavering commitment to Belfast Trust and her wider contribution to health and social care in Northern Ireland.
Dr Cathy Jack, Trust Chief Executive said, “It wasn’t an easy decision and I didn’t take this lightly. It has been my privilege to lead the Belfast Trust and I want to pay tribute to all my wonderful colleagues right across this organisation who everyday get up to do their very best and often in challenging circumstances.
I am now looking forward to new opportunities and I wish all staff in the Trust every best wish and success. I know they will always do their very best for patients, service users and carers within the resources available to them and once again I thank them most sincerely.”
Ciaran Mulgrew, Belfast Trust Chair said, “On behalf of Trust Board, I want to thank Cathy for her dedication and leadership to the people we serve and she leaves with our sincere thanks and best wishes”.
