During the month of February, we are encouraging patients, service users and carers to share their stories using the online platform Care Opinion as part of the Feedback February campaign.

Feedback February is an initiative to help remind patients, service users and their family members that sharing their experiences can improve services for everyone. This year’s campaign focuses on the theme of ‘you said, we did.’

Care Opinion is an online platform where you can share your experience of health or care services, and help make them better for everyone. Care Opinion make it safe and simple to share your story online and see other people’s stories too. You can see how stories are leading to change. Using Care Opinion means that by sharing honest experiences of care, we learn to see what matters to the individuals we care for. Working together, we can all help make care better.

This year, the platform launched Care Opinion for Children, allowing children to share their experiences with the help of Care Opinion Bear. This is aimed at children up to the age of 12 and you can find out more on the Care Opinion Bear website.

Olga O’Neill, Interim Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery, User Experience and Allied Health Professionals, explained:

“Care Opinion was introduced to Belfast Trust in 2020 and since then we have received over 3,000 stories. Over the last year stories on Care Opinion have been viewed thousands of views, highlighting the importance of each interaction we have with our patients and service users and the lasting impact those interactions have.

All feedback we receive is invaluable in helping us improve our services. Hearing from patients, service users and their families about their experiences via Care Opinion gives us the opportunity to learn, improve and make changes to services for the better. This process is really valuable for our staff and volunteers, and can also serve as a reminder to the incredible care that is provided across Belfast Trust every day.

Care Opinion is an anonymous platform to share your story directly, safely and honestly without fear. Simply visit the Care Opinion website to submit your story. This feedback will be shared directly with the relevant team and you’ll receive a reply from our staff. We are really grateful to everyone who takes the time out to share their story with us.”
