Falling has an impact on quality of life and physical and mental health. Falls and fall-related injuries are a common and serious problem for older people. People aged over 65 have the highest risk of falling, with 30% of people older than 65 and 50% of people older than 80 falling at least once a year.
Belfast Trust Community Falls Prevention and Management Service offers Belfast Trust residents aged over 65 years a tailored package of intervention based on the individuals assessed need to reduce the risk of a/another fall. Intervention is delivered in line with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, with the overall aim to reduce the incidence of falls and fall–related injuries in older people.
This can be in the form of a home based multifactorial falls assessment and/or a place on one of our free 12-week Strength and Balance programmes.
Why don’t you come and see us at our Falls Prevention Roadshow in IKEA Belfast, Wednesday 14th May 2025 from 11am – 2pm!
This is an informative, interactive, drop in event where you can learn more about how to reduce your risk of falling as you get older or the older people in your life’s risk of falling.
You can register your interest online and we look forward to seeing you there.
